If you are looking for a printed list of Tiruvannamalai Temple seva ticket prices, this page will tell you something most other pages will not: we went looking for the official one and could not find it. We checked the temple’s own government portal, its services section, its e-services search and the HR&CE ticketing system, and none of them publishes a seva tariff for Arunachaleswarar Temple.
This page used to carry a confident price list anyway. Those figures were not sourced from HR&CE, and they disagreed with the figures on our own other pages — the same seva was listed at prices that differed several times over. We have taken them down rather than tidy them up. What follows is what we could actually verify, and where to get the real number before you pay it.
Tiruvannamalai Temple Seva Tickets: What Is Actually Published
The Arunachaleswarar Temple at Tiruvannamalai is administered by the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department. Its full registered name is Arulmigu Arunachaleswarar Temple, Tiruvannamalai – 606601, Tiruvannamalai District, and its HR&CE temple code is TM020343. That code is the single most useful thing to know: it is how the government’s own systems identify this temple, and it does not change.
The temple’s government portal is annamalaiyar.hrce.tn.gov.in. On that portal, the temple’s Services menu lists exactly three things: donation, annadhanam (the free-meal scheme) and tenders. No archana rate list, no abhishekam price table and no darshan ticket tariff appears in it.
What We Could Book Online
The one online booking flow we were able to reach for this temple through the HR&CE ticketing system is a prasadam packet sent by post. The packet contains vibhuti, kumkum, bilva leaf and a photograph — about 9 grams in total. When you book it you choose the packing material (cotton bag, envelope or poly bag) and enter a delivery address, which may be inside or outside India.
Even there, the price is shown only at the payment step. It is not published on a rate card in advance — which is precisely why nobody, this site included, should be quoting one to you.
Other pilgrimage websites state that abhishekam can be booked online for this temple. We could not reproduce that, and we are not going to assert it either way. If you want to book online, start at the government portal above and see what it offers you on the day; everything else is a counter transaction inside the temple.
How Seva Ticketing Actually Works Here
- You go to the seva or ticket counter inside the temple complex.
- You tell the counter which seva you want and for which deity.
- The counter quotes the current rate and issues a printed ticket.
- You give the ticket to the priest at the appropriate shrine.
Rates are set by the HR&CE Department and are revised from time to time. Because we could find no published tariff, the rate you are quoted at the counter is the rate — there is nothing to cross-check it against, and no website can honestly tell you in advance what it will be.
Two practical consequences. First, carry cash in small denominations; counters are quicker with exact change. Second, if a figure matters to your planning, telephone the temple office or ask at the counter on arrival rather than relying on any number found online.
Verifying a Ticket You Have Been Given
HR&CE runs an e-ticket verification page on the same government portal. If somebody has sold you a ticket, or you have booked online and want to confirm the booking is genuine, that page is where you check it. A real ticket verifies there; anything that does not verify there did not come from the temple.
How to Avoid Paying the Wrong People
Tiruvannamalai attracts a steady trade in fake “booking” services, and the single test that defeats all of them is the domain name. Anything genuinely run by the temple administration sits on hrce.tn.gov.in — a Tamil Nadu government address. If a site asks for payment on any other domain, it is not the temple, whatever it calls itself.
- Be sceptical of any page quoting exact seva prices with confidence — we could not find a government source for any of them.
- Be sceptical of “VIP darshan” sold online for this temple. Special entry here is a counter transaction.
- Never pay by UPI to a personal number for a temple seva.
- A genuine ticket can be checked on the HR&CE e-ticket verification page. Ask for one.
Sevas Performed at Arunachaleswarar Temple
The temple follows the standard Shaiva daily cycle, with abhishekam and deeparadhanai at fixed points through the day and additional poojas on Pradosham and Pournami. Karthigai Deepam in November–December is the largest observance of the year and changes the schedule substantially.
